Root Canal Treatment

Root Canals are generally misunderstood.  A root canal is nothing more than a filling and goes inside the tooth instead of on top of the tooth.  A root canal treatment removes a thin ribbon of tissue at the center of the tooth. This becomes necessary due to trauma, a crack, a deep cavity or filling, and at times after a crown. Rarely a tooth may need a root canal when there is not enough tooth left to hold a crown. People seem to associate root canals with being an uncomfortable procedure. This may be because teeth are often sensitive or painful when a root canal procedure is necessary, not because the procedure itself is painful.
